Evaluating First Aid Kits: Critical Items Required for Emergency Preparedness
We’ll never know when an emergency will occur. It could happen anytime, anywhere, with anyone. The question is, are you prepared?
If not, then it’s probably time that you get a first aid kit. The article titled “What to Put in Your First Aid Kit” from Geisinger gives important information on what is needed for a first aid kit and why it’s important to have one. The article states that it is important to have a first aid kit as it is essential to have the basic care needed to aid small or major injuries, which is something that I agree with. Having a first aid kit could be a potential lifesaver when you or another person is in need of help the most.
The article then goes on to talk about what kind of bag is needed for a first aid kit and the supplies needed. It’s important to have a bag that is waterproof to protect medical supplies from spills, or you can also use a plastic bag that is resealable. In addition, it’s best to store the first aid kit somewhere handy but also somewhere that is out of reach of pets and children. When it comes to supplies, it’s crucial to have a list of emergency contacts to store in the aid kit in case of an emergency. Also, it’s key to have medications such as aspirin for heart attacks, Tylenol, and Advil. Band-Aids are also needed for first aid kits and absorbent compress dressings. It’s also important to have tweezers, cotton pads, and non-latex gloves.
Be sure to check your first aid kit a couple of times a year to remove anything that may have expired so that you’ll have effective medication when needed. You should also remove items that you may not use, such as medicines. It’s important to keep a first aid kit that will prepare you for emergencies and will keep you in peace knowing that you have one around.
